Welcome to the Greenville Women Build Volunteer
Registration and Scheduling Site.
Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities. Created by Habitat for Humanity International in 1998, Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide. To date, Women Build has built over 1,200 homes worldwide for families in need.
In 2009, Women Build of Greenville County will celebrate 10 years of building homes. Over this time period, Women Build has built 9 homes for 9 single women and 22 children in Greenville County. In the fall of 2009, women volunteers for 9 straight weekends will hammer boards into walls, and a house will become a home.
Here’s how it works. The local Habitat affiliate provides Women Build with land, construction assistance and works to prepare the family for homeownership. The Women Build Project is responsible for:
-
Raising $57,000 to build the home
-
Generating publicity and community awareness of the build
-
Recruiting volunteers for the build
-
Providing lunch for volunteers each day of the build
All of the funds raised—100% goes toward construction and labor is 95% volunteer.
Volunteer or donate to Women Build and help the fight against poverty housing!
